This is a limited series I hopefully plan to keep up for 12 months. My purpose of this series is to give readers who are interested in reselling as a side hustle a glimpse into numbers, and bits of piece of the nitty gritty of reselling. I have been doing this for 15 years part-time. It’s not really a guide, but more of a peek into some numbers & random thoughts on selling. Reselling, even though has its definite downs, has provided additional small income for my family. In general, I work on my own time, which is a huge plus. Especially since I can prioritize my time towards my children, one of who is autistic.
Gross Sales For October 2023:$1699.99
COGS: $384.73
Another Great Month Of Sales
I’m surprise October was another great month. I think this is also the month I sold my highest sale on Poshmark. Which was a men’s jacket that sold for $550.
Experience With Poshmark’s Authentication
For any sale that sells for $500 it gets sent to Poshmark’s HQ for authentication. I did not know this, but sometimes Poshmark’s authentication can take a bit. For me it took about a week for it to be authenticated. Since the jacket wasn’t a luxury item, and really meant for extreme outdoor travels I sent a message to Poshmark. I noted that the item was of course real, and the customer needed the item soon since it’s probably for an important trip. I don’t think that helped. I honestly was very peeved it took so long to authenticate.
In the past from other resellers’s experience they actually took longer. Like 2 weeks. That’s ridiculous for someone to pay so much to not get their items quicker. Kind of sucks to think in my case it took them faster than usual.
Business Slowing Down Until Spring
My sales for November is down. Still a little higher than last year. The reason? This is the time I usually go on vacation. Plus my inventory isn’t exactly gift giving inventory heavy. Oh well, still happy that for Novembers still better than last year. I’ll post my November numbers next month.
