This is a limited series I hopefully plan to keep up for 12 months. My purpose of this series is to give readers who are interested in reselling as a side hustle a glimpse into numbers, and bits of piece of the nitty gritty of reselling. I have been doing this for 15 years part-time. It’s not really a guide, but more of a peek into some numbers & random thoughts on selling. Reselling, even though has its definite downs, has provided additional small income for my family. In general, I work on my own time, which is a huge plus. Especially since I can prioritize my time towards my children, one of who is autistic.

Lowering Sales Expectations
During the month of May my husband caught Covid. Fortunately his symptoms were pretty mild. Since his work strictly follows covid procedures, he was off work for 10 days (included his normal weekends). During those days off I didn’t do much in terms of reselling.
While being stuck at home was pretty boring, it also gave us time as a family to enjoy at home. We were able to catch up on some minor home improvements, and I was able to do some much needed inventory upkeep. We also enjoyed time as a family doing activities that didn’t involve us having contact with the public. My children, and I were tested negative throughout his time being tested positive. It was kind of bizarre.
Since I wanted to enjoy much needed family time I decided to lower my sales expectations for summer. Meaning ASP will be lowered. Things that sold for $100 I will accept prices in the $50-$100. I do need to move stale inventory anyways. Let’s hope June will have more sales.
I’m not giving up on reselling. Just lowering my expectations for the foreseeable future. Hopefully until the economy gets better. The upside is I’m noticing better stuff at thrift stores. It could be two things. One, some resellers just deciding to bail on reselling. Two, companies are not selling as great as they use to so they donate/liquidate more.
I notice this in my area. It may not be the same in others, but I’ll take it.
