This is a limited series I hopefully plan to keep up for 2024. My purpose of this series is to give readers who are interested in reselling as a side hustle a glimpse into numbers, and bits of piece of the nitty gritty of reselling. I have been doing this for 15 years part-time. It’s not really a guide, but more of a peek into some numbers & random thoughts on selling. Reselling, even though has its definite downs, has provided additional small income for my family. In general, I work on my own time, which is a huge plus.
Gross Sales For eBay/Poshmark March 2024: $1,127.93
COGS: $165.26
Poshmark More Sales Again For Me
For the month of March I sold more on poshmark than eBay. I’m not surprised. The offer to likers feature is so simple to do, and it send a different offer ( 10% from last offer) to the same posher. eBay doesn’t have that feature. I’m assuming it’s too much for their infrastructure to handle given their millions of buyers/sellers. With eBay it’s usually if you send an offer you really can’t send an offer again. Sometimes buyers will message me again, and then I’d have to send a personal offer through PM on eBay.
So since I do “Offer to Likers” on a weekly basis, it works out well on poshmark.
Ebay Return
I’ve been having more than usual returns on ebay. It’s on items priced $40+. It’s frustrating, but it is what it is. Usually when I get an item return on ebay I don’t relist on eBay. I end up listing on poshmark only. Poshmark has a return system in place, but I think in general poshmark has a return system that doesn’t affect the seller’s reputation on their app.
It’s kind of been bothering me lately with these returns. I give a good deal, only to have the buyer return. Then they claim item not as described sometimes which affects my seller reputation on eBay. I don’t mind returns, but having to pay for the returns is just not worth for me.
Because I’m moving right now I decided to put my eBay store on vacation but keep my poshmark store open. This way I don’t really have to worry about returns.
Plans To Bin All Inventory For The Move
While I’m generally organized in terms of inventory. Not all my inventory is in bins. Coats, some dresses, and long sleeves shirts are not in bins. I have to spend some time binning these items before I move. Hopefully it’s not too time consuming.
