Decluttering : Back To School 2023

I’ve been wanting to declutter my kids rooms. I guess I sort of achieved this since my biggest motivation is to do it before Baby Hulk school starts. I worked mostly on Baby Hulk’s room compared to little princess. Since Little Princess is Pre-K age she doesn’t have a strong sense of ownership of having her own things, space, etc.

Getting Rid Of Clothing That Are Too Big

These bags of clothing are both from Baby Hulk & Little Princess. I went through all of them and sorted out to:

Donate

These bags are clothing I’m planning to donate during fall/winter donation drive at Baby Hulk’s school. During that season his school does a donation drive for local charities. For now these bags will still sit in my house. I do not mind since they are going to be used by someone else. All of the clothing are inspected and have no holes, never been altered, and no stains, and with plenty of life left.

Throw Away

I did throw away a bunch of their clothing away. Sure I could have donated clothing to the thrift or charity store, but I prefer to donate items that are in sellable condition. Clothing I threw away were too used, had stains, and very basic cheap brands/style from Target/Walmart.

I got rid of some of Little Princess’s very worn costume dresses. These are some she still uses. Bottom pic is a box of keepsake clothing in good to great condition that I saved for her. These are all Disney store brand clothing, and costumes.

Getting rid of their clothing always gets me emotional. They grow up too fast. Even though I’m lucky to stay at home, and raise them, I feel like I should have enjoyed motherhood/parenthood more. I know I’m a good mom to them, but that doesn’t mean I’m not mentally exhausted. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so tired. Still, I love my kids, and have more great memories than not so great ones.

Decluttering Plushies

Between Baby Hulk, and Little Princess, Baby Hulk has the most plushies. In terms of plushies, I got rid of mostly his. Now I didn’t get rid of keepsakes, or current ones he plays with. I just got rid of ones that were rarely played with. Baby Hulk throughout his toddler years was only attached to one plushie. I kept that one of course. I also kept the plushies that are heirlooms/keepsakes. We have the entire collection of 80s Winnie The Pooh Plushies. Those are still in his overhead plushie corner net.

Decluttering The Pantry For School

I also work on decluttering our pantries for Back to School. This way when back to school sales for snacks happen, I’ll be able to stock up. I usually look out for sales at Target & Costco.

Decluttering School Utitility Cart

I also went through Baby Hulk’s utility cart. I already received his new teacher’s back to school wishlist. I go through that list and sometimes keep doubles in his utility cart for supplies. He also needs a new backpack, and a new lunchbox.

Are you getting ready for the school year for your little( or big) ones?
