Decluttering: An Unintentional Break & Working On The Kids Room

For the past 1.5 months I haven’t been doing extra decluttering. Just too much that went on that made me not physically, or mentally able to start out of the norm decluttering projects. Also what’s next on my list are my children’s room. I don’t know about you, but decluttering children’s rooms can be so overwhelming. I’m overwhelmed for a number of reasons:

  1. I have to do it when my kids are not at home, or when my husband is watching them.
  2. They have so much stuff.
  3. I haven’t done a proper decluttering in so long.
  4. I always have to replace things, or buy things they may need in the near future ( mostly clothes, and some toys). Kids, especially young kids grow out of things much faster than older ones.

Yet I didn’t do any. Oh I kept the day to day maintenance. I’ve just been pretty sick, and unmotivated. Now since everybody is better, and our life is back to a normal routine, I’m ready to start. I’m not decluttering to move btw. It’s more of just like a spring decluttering. For projects like this it more of :

  1. Going through their clothes, shoes and put in a donate/trash pile
  2. Going through their toys & books and deciding which to keep/recycle
  3. List what needs to be replaced
  4. Seeing if I should buy new organization accessories or small furniture

For things that are to be donated, I usually ask family friend who has a coworker who fosters children if they want the stuff I have. They usually take most of the things I have since they foster young kids often. I then ask my husband if any of his coworkers, former employees need/or want anything for their children. For the most part, I end up donating to the thrift stores very little.
