Halloween 2022 Ends In Another Happy Overstimulated Day

I just put my kids to bed and I can hear my son stimming like crazy. They are happy stims, so I’m not worried. It just means he will wake up much later in the morning. This year Halloween was a success again. It was also little princess’s first halloween walking door to door by herself. She fell fast asleep after all that walking and greeting neighbors. Last year she was an octopus but I baby wore her while my husband and I walked door to door with baby hulk.

Reflecting On The Neighborhood Changing

This year we didn’t get as much kids. On halloweens that have lots of kids I’m not prepared, but on halloweens I’m prepared there is less than expected kids. Even though we had so much candy left we still took our kids out trick or treating. My children are still at that sweet spot age ( 2 & 6) where people enjoy seeing little kids dress up and squeak out “trick, treat.” So we trekked to the neighborhood over that had bigger homes, and visited all the homes with porch lights on, and enjoyed all the decorations. We knew some neighbors still lived there because their decorations was the same with a few extras.

Baby Hulk Overcoming His Fear & No Shut Downs

Baby hulk did well. I had to do a handful of firm redirections because he didn’t quite understand he wasn’t suppose to go beyond candy bowls & candy table. He assumed he could walk into the open garage. Nobody responded negatively, but I always apologize and thank them for understanding. He also responded much better to the inflatable decorations and seemed to enjoy them much more. I’m so happy about that. We use to have minor problems of him eloping & crying because he didn’t like being near them. He hasn’t told me why because of his speech delay, but I’m going to assume its the machines being used to keep them inflated.

Spirit Of Halloween

I’m really happy I live in a fairly friendly neighborhood. While I don’t know my neighbors personally, it was fun how they were happy to see kids & adults dressed up. Our neighborhood doesn’t leave candy out often because yes, there are people that ruin it for everyone by stealing the whole bowl. Though they give candy to everyone. Even me. I do not mind if  someone isn’t wearing a costume, or is too old. It’s one of the fews days a year we get to wish people a good night & happy halloween. I live in a 24 hour city, so people do not work the typical 9-5pm.  It’s so rare to see them. When I see them when I walk my children in the afternoon, and that’s when I just wave hello. It rarely goes beyond that. It’s just the way my city works.

Prepping For The Upcoming Holidays

Since Baby hulk seems to enjoy most halloween inflatables he seems more open to the idea of adding inflatable Christmas decor outside. We are planning to buy one. I know little princess is excited because she loves the inflatable decor. I’m just happy we can add it, and not worry if baby hulk is afraid of our home. It was one of the reasons why we never gotten a Christmas one.
